Day 13 - Today's Weather

Day 13 of the 30 Day Photo Challenge - Today's Weather

The weather is decent out.  Sun was shining but it was cold. So it was a good day to stay inside and snuggle!

Good day to sleep in!

Conversation between Mama and Caelyn last Thursday.

Mama: Today is your last day of school, you can sleep in tomorrow!
Caelyn: I always sleep in.
Mama: Oh, really?
Caelyn: Yes.  I don't ever sleep outside.  I always sleep in!

* Today I am thankful for lazy Sundays full of snuggles, football and hanging out with my family!

Day 11 - Something Blue

Day 11 of the 30 Day Photo Challenge - Something Blue

Today, our President, Barack Obama, made an appearance at our high school. The school where my oldest attends, and where my other three will eventually attend. Jarrod was given the honor of getting to play for the president in the marching band. And Jayk and I were lucky enough to get tickets and be in the main gym to see him, in person, give a speech. And I was honored. Beyond honored, to be there. To share this amazing experience with my kids.

Jarrod, excitedly waiting to perform!

FORWARD!!!

Obama State

Even Santa Claus supports the President 2012!!
Four More Years!!!

Our President!

A powerful speaker

Such an amazing experience!

If you look closely, you can see the President waving from the back seat as they drove by!!!!
Now, I know, and I do feel, that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  ME included.  I support our President.  I have ALREADY cast my vote for him.  I am not as political as I used to be.  I do read and watch, and from the things that matter the most to me, I have formed my opinion, and I cast my vote.  I am a GAY MIDDLE CLASS WOMAN, who is concerned about how she will pay for college for her kids.

First, I am GAY.  And President Obama supports me, the other does not.  Marriage equality is VERY important to me.  My marriage is JUST as valid (if not more so) as all other marriages.  So why would I vote for someone who wants to take that away?

I am MIDDLE CLASS, President Obama fights for me and other people like me, the other does not.

I am a WOMAN.  It should be MY choice if I want to have an abortion or not.  It should be MY choice if I want to take birth control.  It should not be up to ANY government, federal or state.  It should not be up to an insurance company or an employer whether I should be able to take birth control.  This is MY body.  And ya know, I am GAY, so I do not have to worry about these things.  Unless I am raped.  And I am sorry, if you have never been raped, molested, had someone force their self on you, then please do not tell me that I should carry that child to term and then give the baby up for adoption.  Now, I believe wholeheartedly in adoption.  But, if you have never been in that place, then you have NO right to cast judgement on someone who is.  You have no idea what that person is feeling.  You have no idea what kind of damage the rape or molestation has done to that girl/woman.  And to make her carry a child that was conceived in such a heinous way is beyond horrific.

I also want to send my children to college.  And, since I am middle class, I do not just have the money lying around.  My kids can't just "borrow" from their parents.  And, I feel that President Obama is more likely to help out than the other guy.

I also worry about health care.  My mom struggles financially as it is.  For her and my mentally disabled brother.  One gets medicare and the other gets medicaid.  And it doesn't cover everything.  My Mom has to worry each month on how to reach my brothers spend down so that he can get the care that he needs.  And that other guy, I really don't think this is high on any list for him.  And I do think that Obama has a plan in motion that will help them.  That will get my Mom and my brother the care that they need... and DESERVE!

I am not big on the foreign policy stuff, and couldn't defend anything that the President has said about this.  I am also not real sure on things like immigration.  I do feel that this is a country that is built from immigrants.  My ancestors... and I am not talking like great great greats either... where not from here.  I am not Native American.  My bloodline, just like MOST others, is not from here.  So to hear people talk about immigrants like they are dirty, like they are unwanted, kinda makes me a little sick.  Because, if it weren't for immigrants, most of us would not be here.

Again, I do feel that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And yes, although I may not agree, you are entitled.  But I can't help but think that people that are voting for the other guy are voting against me.  I can't help but think that if they vote for him, that they don't support my family, my marriage, and don't support me.  And if they don't support me, then how can they care about me.  I know that there are more issues out there, but this one is personal.  This one hits home, and it hits home hard.  And people tell me to not take it personal... and my response is, well then please don't take it personal if I no longer call you a friend, or no longer read your blog, or unfriend you on FB due to all the hateful things you post... Cause, my life, my marriage, my family.... it just doesn't get more personal than that.

So, back to the 30 Day Challenge, and how this all ties in to Something Blue.  My Something Blue.... is that I hope and I pray, that this swing state that I live in, that it turns BLUE for this election.  Cause, it's personal to me. EQUALITY FOR ALL!!!  OBAMA 2012!!!

*Today I am thankful that I got to see our President in person, and that I was able to share that with both my boys.  One was in the stands with his fellow band members, and the other was right next to me, telling me how exciting it was!

Day 10 - Water

Day 10 of the 30 Day Photo Challenge- Water

Beautiful Carolina Beach on the day we arrived for our Familymoon.
I could definitely use the peace and quiet of the beach.  To relax, and just to maybe get more centered.  I love the beach and absolutely everything about it.

*Today I am thankful that we have places like this that we are able to vacation too.  Where we can get away from it all. Relax in the peace and quiet, get more centered and just focus on our family.
