Let me give a short recap of the events of the last week. We went to the dr on Monday, I was still only dilated to a 1, and the baby was still at a 0 station. The dr decided to send me for an ultrasound to check the fluid levels, the placenta function, and to make sure the baby was doing ok. On Tuesday, we head to the hospital for the ultrasound. I tell Kel that we should take the other car, (leaving my Mom the bigger car with Gryfinn's car seat) and that we should also take our bags 'just in case.' They do the ultrasound, the baby is doing ok, the fluid levels are low, but Junebug passes the biophysical profile, but they want me to have a non-stress test done, just to be safe. The NST goes fine, but my dr decides that the fluid levels are low, and since the baby is doing so good that we should go ahead and be admitted for induction. Kel and I both were in shock, and nervous, and excited! We get admitted, and taken up to our room. We just kinda hang out for awhile. They finally get me hooked up to the pitocin around 5:30, and she checks me right away. I was already at a 4. (seems like Junebug was ready to come anyways!) My dr comes in right then, and decides to break my water. Not much fluid comes out when he does, so it really was in the best interest to get things going cause we think that I might have already been leaking fluid. So - now - we are on our way to delivering our lil Junebug. No turning back! :o) The bad thing about being induced was that we were not able to deliver at the birthing center. Kel and I were both bummed about this, but nothing we could do. Things moved fast! And hard! But I made it through without any drugs, without epidural. I don't know if the pitocin made things worse, all I know is that labor hurts like hell no matter what. And that urge to push is just the strangest feeling. But it is all just so worth it! And after only 3 1/2 hours from start to finish, and only pushing through three contractions (less than 5 minutes), we are proud and happy to announce....
IT'S A GIRL!!!!
Caelyn Alexa arrived at 9:00pm on June 10. She weighed in at 7lbs even and was 20 1/2 inches long. She is a champ at nursing. Latched on immediately with no problems! Our first night was a little rough, it was obvious that this new world was so very strange to her. But she is doing wonderful. And she is just so perfect in every way! She has so much dark hair, and just the cutest most perfect lips, hands, feet, head..... everything is just so perfect! Jarrod and Jayk are just so in love with her. They keep saying our pretty she is. And they can not keep their hands off of her! Gryfinn is doing really good. He looks at her and says "Oh Baby!" And he really likes giving her kisses! I am doing really good. Only had a small 2nd degree tear, which is not bothering me at all. My only complaint is my muscles in my back. Haven't used those muscles in awhile, and pushing must have pulled them. ;-) Kel is amazing! She is taking great care of all of us. And my heart just melts when I see the look on her face when she holds Caelyn. She is filled with so much love, and I am so lucky to witness that. Our love truly has grown a beautiful baby and a very happy family.
Caelyn is waking up, and needs changed and nursed. So I will go for now, and leave you with a picture montage!
